Coming to MAG for the first time.
If you want to come to Mag for the first time, you probably have questions that are troubling you: How do I visit? What exactly is MAG? What do you do there? Is it going to be uncomfortable, especially if Iʼm shy?
Donʼt panic! Everyone has these questions at first.
Weʼve all been there, and remember our first day crossing the threshold of MAG!
When you come to MAG for the first time and push open the door, we will not ignore you but engage you in sincere conversation. It can be difficult to introduce yourself and make conversation when you donʼt know anyone and arenʼt at ease. Donʼt worry, this is the purpose of the staff. Theyʼre young volunteers intent on making your first experience a good one.
At your arrival, a greeter will meet you to present the association and talk with you. If you want, you can stay longer and join a group discussion in order to get to know the other young people at MAG that day. The staff will go out of their way to make you comfortable, and are always available if you feel lost. Never hesitate to approach a member of the staff if you have a question but donʼt want to ask the group. They are there for listening and trying to answer all of your questions. You may think your question is stupid, but itʼs not.
It is difficult to say what MAG will be like in the evening, afternoon, or whenever you decide to come. Sometimes it is crowded, sometimes there is no one talking or playing a game.
In any case, you are welcome and the staff will make you feel comfortable! A piece of advice for the shy: come early (between 6 pm and 7 pm on Friday, or between 4 pm and 5 pm on Saturday). There are less people which makes it less intimidating.
Alright, you say, but itʼs not that simple if youʼre extremely shy. This is why we have posted testimonials from other young people who overcame their shyness and came to MAG. You can read their posts on the forum (return to the previous menu)!
